
Electric superchargers were created to ease the way we add forced induction to our vehicles. Electric superchargers function in much of the same ways as a turbo or supercharger but without some of the sacrifices you make when adding these.
Electric superchargers should always run on a standard automotive 12 volt currency, meaning there are a number of options available to get power from. You have the choice of wiring electric superchargers in so that it can be turned on when you want by a switch inside the cabin or engine bay, or it can be made to constantly run as soon as the ignition is turned on (which is what we recommend). Either way, electric superchargers bring you the choice as to when you want to get your power, it is not mechanically based on exhaust gas flow or pulley size and spool time like conventional turbo or supercharger systems.
Adding Electric Superchargers can be a simple process since you will not need to wire in boost controllers or change pulleys to adjust the boost level. The mess of plumbing a standard supercharger or turbo setup, from rerouting exhaust, supplying oil, changing pulleys, and engine belts is completely eliminated when installing electric superchargers! The best kits conveniently place electric superchargers in between your air filter and intake pipe, giving you easy access while saving you time and money on labor for installation and costly extras like extra exhaust manifolds, pulleys, belts, manifolds, and intercooler piping. Some electric superchargers manufacturers will even include a high-flow conical air filters that will improve airflow and add performance!
Electric Superchargers stay cool and do not generate excessive heat. Temperatures under the hood also rise when adding a turbo or supercharger to a car that is not meant to have it. The exhaust gasses that collect and radiate from the housings of a turbine or the stress extra belts produce on the motor when a supercharger is installed radiate heat. Electric Superchargers do not create this excessive heat that traditional superchargers or turbochargers create. These external temperatures the engine is subject to can also cause the fluid temperature inside of the motor to rise, risking internal damage! With an external supercharger, none of this is present, as it will run completely cool while providing you with the additional horsepower you’re lacking!
Electric superchargers require NO additional tuning upon installation. This is another downside to turbo or supercharging your vehicle. Additional engine computer software or piggyback fuel controllers and costly dynotuning is required just to get the vehicle running correctly. Even though electric superchargers will bring you horsepower gains and allow your car to run correctly without tuning, our test results have concluded that addition of a performance chip will boost your power even higher!
Our thoughts on electric superchargers; they’re the way of the future! The electric supercharger has the capacity to replace conventional methods of forced induction the way the mechanical method of carburetion was replaced by electronic fuel injection. It’s only a matter of time before vehicles are going to be offered from the factory with electric superchargers!
